 LITURGICAL MUSIC

In using the God-given gift of music, musicians work together to serve the prayer life of the Saint Cecilia community.  Music is one of the vehicles through which the people of God pray.  With our voices and instruments, we not only praise God, but seek to bring God's love to others, hoping to minister in helping others to enter into a deeper relationship with the Almighty Father.  While reverencing the old forms of sung prayer, we are ever mindful of new music.  Music nourishes the soul and spirit, stimulates joy and contemplation, and often moves one beyond the spoken word.  It is a humbling vocation, a divine trust and a most holy opportunity in liturgy.

ADULT CHOIR

The adult choir sings at the 9:30 Mass on Sunday from September-June and on other occasions.  The ability to read music or previous choral experience is not necessary.  It is open to individuals in the ninth grade and older.  They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Liturgical Music Room.

CANTORS

Cantors are individuals that lead the congregation in song and responses at Masses and other liturgies throughout the year.  These individuals are selected by the Liturgical Music Director.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

Children in grades three through eight are invited to join the children's choir and sing at liturgical celebrations throughout the year.  Practice time is during the school day and on Saturday afternoon when the choir is singing at Mass that day.  Rehearsals are held in the Liturgical Music Room.

CONTEMPORARY CHOIR

The Contemporary Choir is an ensemble that utilizes the piano, bass drums, guitars and other instruments to enhance the liturgy at the 11:30 Mass on Sundays and at some special services and events.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in the Liturgical Music Room.

FUNERAL CHOIR

The Funeral Choir is a group of individuals ministering by proclaiming the promise of EVERLASTING LIFE at funeral Masses on an as needed basis.  Availability during the day (usually mornings) is necessary.  Rehearsal are every other Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

MASS TIME CHANGE

On Sunday, May 25, we will switch to the “summer” Mass schedule.  Since during the summer people tend to want to go to earlier Masses, the last Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. instead of 12 noon.  The summer schedule has Mass times of Saturday 5:00 p.m., Sunday 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

CODE OF CONDUCT

In compliance with diocesan policies and in anticipation of their planned audit of our parish, we request that all volunteers for any parish program sign and return the Code of Conduct Form to the parish office (you may put it in the Sunday collection basket, or mail it). If  you have any questions, please contact Mike Agriesti in the Parish Office (878-5353).

SACRIFICIAL GIVING PROGRAM

Each member of the parish should have received a mailing including a flyer, "Answers to Questions About Sacrificial Giving" and a pledge card.  We ask everyone to prayerfully consider a pledge of support to our parish.  If you have not already done so, please place your completed pledge card in the collection basket at Mass.  For any questions regarding Sacrificial Giving or to receive a pledge card, please contact the parish office.
